Final Results from Brown Invitational
The women's tennis team opened its fall season strong at the Brown Invitational this weekend.
Participating schools included; Boston College, Brown, BU, Rutgers, UMass,
BC's overall singles and doubles record was 23-7 during the three day tournament.
"It was nice to get off to a good start this weekend. It's really a tribute to the players," said Coach Bentley. "They have been training hard all summer and were excited to get the season started. I think the whole team was very focused and played with lots of energy. The freshmen, Lexi and Emily competed really well and had a lot of positive matches. It was nice to see sophomore transfer Jenny Ren make her BC debut in doubles action as well. Wan Yi was clutch winning her singles flight. This tournament was a good first step for our team."
Singles recap:
Freshman Lexi Borr and Wan Yi Sweeting each won their respective singles draws going 3-0.
Jessica Wacnik, Katya Vasilyev and Emily Safron had 2-1 records and Heini Salomen was 1-2.
Doubles recap:
Wacnik and Borr won the tournament. They went 4-0 in the 16 team draw. BC's teams Salomen / Jenny Ren and Vasilyev / Safron each earned 3-1 records.
