Women's Soccer Preseason Report

The Boston College women's soccer teams ended the ninth day of preseason training with a scrimmage this afternoon against Providence at the Newton Soccer Field.
Senior Patrice Vettori scored two goals, while juniors Casey Morrison and Rachel Davitt tallied a goal each. Freshman Rosie DiMartino also scored in the 5-0 victory over the Friars.
Boston College will open up the regular season on Friday, August 23 as the Eagles will host No. 2 Stanford at 7 p.m. Admission is free for all the Eagles regular season games.
BC returns eight starters from last year's team, including the three captains and key midfielders Patrice Vettori, Gibby Wagner and Kate McCarthy (five goals). Coach Foley will look to the three to lead a young team which will have to replace 18 goals and 18 assists combined with the graduation of Kristie Mewis and Victoria DiMartino.
The Eagles do return the No. 2 scorer and All-ACC second team honoree Stephanie McCaffrey (10 goals, seven assists, 27 points) as well as All-ACC Freshman team member McKenzie Meehan (9 goals, 18 points).
Zoe Lombard, Casey Morrison, Lauren Bernard will all return on the defensive side as well as Rachel Davitt, who also played midfield and forward for the team last season.
BC will meld seven freshmen - forward Hayley Dowd, defender Meg MacDonald, forward Andrea O'Brien, forward/midfielder Rosie DiMartino, defender Ashleigh Ward, forward Jessica Holmes and defender Jena Keffer - into the system in a short amount of time.
