Women's Soccer Picked Eighth in the ACC Preseason Poll

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College soccer team was selected eighth in the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Soccer Preseason poll as voted on by the league's 14 head coaches.
Boston College earned 102 votes in the preseason poll which now includes Notre Dame (fifth), Syracuse (12th) and Pittsburgh (14th).
UNC earned the No. 1 spot with 194 votes and 13 first place votes, while FSU was second with 171 votes and one first place vote. UVA was picked to place third, while Duke landed in fourth with 153 votes. After Notre Dame in fifth, Wake Forest is sixth, Maryland seventh, BC, Virginia Tech in ninth while Clemson and Miami earned 56 votes and are tied in 10th.
The 2013 Eagles return eight starters including senior captains Gibby Wagner, Patrice Vettori and Kate McCarthy. BC also returns three keys on defense in Casey Morrison, Lauren Bernard and Rachel Davitt. Boston College will also introduce seven newcomers to the roster while looking for players to step up and replace the departure of All-American and the program's all-time leading scorer Kristie Mewis and the third all-time leading scorer in Victoria DiMartino.
Boston College will open up the season Friday, August 23 at 7 p.m. against cross-country rival Stanford. All regular season home games have free admission.
