The Boston College (13-9-1) advanced to the Elite Eight with a complete domination of the Big Ten in the second and third round of the NCAA Tournament in Nebraska last weekend.
The Eagles defeated host Nebraska, 4-1, on Friday afternoon behind goals by McKenzie Meehan, Gibby Wagner, Lauren Bernard and Hayley Dowd. In the Sweet 16 round, Boston College defeated Illinois, 4-1, behind goals from the same four players and nine saves from Alex Johnson.
BC is now 3-0 against the Big Ten this season. Illinois was the third Big 10 team Boston College played this season. BC defeated Ohio State, 1-0, on Sept. 5. At the time, Ohio State was ranked 21st in the country. With the win over No. 10 Nebraska on Friday, Nov. 22,
• BC has now played 11 teams ranked in the Top 25 this season.
• This is the 17th overall and 11th consecutive time Boston College has advanced to the NCAA Tournament. It is also the ninth time BC has advanced to the Sweet 16 round in the tournament.
• This is the fifth time BC advanced to the Elite Eight (1983, 85, 09, 10 & 2013). The Eagles one College Cup appearance came in the 2010 season.
• The win over Illinois marked the 22nd victory for the Eagles program in the NCAA Tournament.
• Two players - sophomore forward McKenzie Meehan and sophomore midfielder/defender Lauren Bernard - has scored three goals in three NCAA games for the Eagles. Meehan's 20 goals is the new single season goal scoring record at BC, while Bernard switched from defense to midfield at mid-season and has turned up the Eagles offense.

• FSU leads the overall series, 10-2-1.
• BC and FSU played on October 3, 2013 in Tallahassee. The Seminoles came back from a 2-0 first half deficit to defeat the Eagles, 4-3. At the time, FSU was ranked fifth in the country. BC was led offensively by two goals by McKenzie Meehan and one by senior defender Zoe Lombard.
• BC's lone victory came in the 2012 regular season when the Eagles beat then-No.1 FSU, 3-2, on a game-winning goal by Kristie Mewis with 10 minutes to play. The game was at the Newton Soccer Field.
• There is a one goal differential in 10 of the 13 games between the two teams.
• In the 2004 NCAA Tournament, the two teams played to a 0-0 tie in double OT. BC advanced to the next round on PK's.
