Westphal Ready for IAAF World Junior Championship

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Boston College’s Liv Westphal is set to compete at the 2012 International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Junior Championship in Barcelona from July 10-15. The rising sophomore from Limoges, France will represent her homeland in the 3,000-meter run Tuesday, July 10 at 8 p.m. (2 p.m. EST) in the historic Montjuïc Olympic Stadium.
Westphal is one of 14 members of the French women’s team and the team’s lone entrant in the 3,000. The Eagle qualified for the IAAF meet by running a 9:26.57 at the Penn Relays Carnival on April 26. The personal best time was the third fastest outdoor 3,000 – an event seldom seen in college – in school history.
