
Women's Tennis Defeats Wake Forest, 6-1

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The No. 70 Boston College women's tennis team defeated Wake Forest, 6-1, at the Flynn Recreation Complex outdoor tennis courts on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles (9-10, 3-6 ACC) swept doubles play and earned victories in five of the six singles matches over the Demon Deacons (3-15, 0-9 ACC).
Junior Ina Kauppila and freshman Sarah Dalton took the first match of the day, beating Brigita Bercyte and Catherine Roach, 8-3, on court three. Senior Katarina Gajic and junior Olga Khmylev sealed the doubles point with an 8-1 win over Karen Forman and Rebecca Seigler on court two. Freshman Jessica Wacnik and senior Erina Kikuchi finished the sweep with an 8-6 victory in the No. 1 position over Ryann Cutillo and Kayla Duncan.
In singles action, Kauppila earned the first win on court five, defeating Roach, 6-0, 6-1. Khmylev followed with the victory on court three, beating Forman in two set by the same score of 6-3. Gajic played in the No. 2 position and took a 6-3, 6-0 win over Siegler before Wacnik fell in the No. 1 positive to Cutillo, 6-2, 6-2. Junior Kelly Barry finished the scoring with a win in the No. 4 spot, defeating Bercyte, 6-4, 6-1.
The Eagles notched the win in the No. 6 position by default.
BC returns to action on Tuesday, April 10 when it faces cross-town rival Boston University in Cambridge, Mass.
