Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College women's tennis team will add a third player, Heini Salonen, to the 2012-13 roster, head coach Nigel Bentley announced on Tuesday. She will join five-star recruits Julia Casselbury and Katya Vasilyev, who signed National Letters of Intent in the fall.
Salonen, who hails from Finland, won the Finnish national open championship three times (2008 indoor and outdoor, 2010 indoor), two junior national titles in the under-18 division and four in the U-16 and U-14 divisions. She also represented her native country in the Women's Federal Cup four consecutive years.
In doubles action, Salonen captured one title and made three Finish national open championships and four in juniors play.
The Eagles finished their season with a 10-13 record.
