CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College field hockey squad is keeping very busy this offseason. The team has scheduled three spring tournaments and its annual banquet according to an announcement made by head coach Ainslee Lamb.
"The spring phase of training is a critical time of development and preparation for the fall," Lamb said. "It is always a fantastic opportunity for the entire team to step into new and exciting roles. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to host three tournaments right here at BC."
The Eagles will open their spring schedule on Saturday, March 31 in a round-robin tournament against Boston University, Northeastern, Providence and UMass. This play day is scheduled to run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
"We have included the top regional teams on the spring schedule, as to ensure our preparation for the level of competition we will face this coming fall," Lamb explained.
On Sunday, April 15, Boston College will once again square off against cross-town rivals Boston University and Northeastern, in addition to playing Dartmouth. This play day will also last from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
BC will wrap up its home tournament schedule on Saturday, April 21 by hosting UConn, Holy Cross, Providence and New Hampshire. The round-robin portion of the day will last from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with two playoff games to follow.
The Eagles will compete in the Longstreth Spring Cup at Quinnipiac University on April 28 to close out their spring slate. Boston College won this tournament in 2010.
The team's annual spring banquet is scheduled for April 21, following the completion of the team's final home play day.
"The banquet is always a favorite time of year when we have the chance to get the entire BC field hockey family - players, parents, staff and support staff - all together to celebrate the individual and team accomplishments from the fall," Lamb commented. "At this event, we always remind ourselves how fortunate we are to have the support system that we do because it truly makes a difference in the success of our program.
"To see the fall group back together is always a moment to cherish and a great memory to have for years to come," Lamb added.
