CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Seniors Jacqui Moorfield and Kara Mackintire have been named co-captains for the 2012 field hockey season, according to an announcement made by Boston College head coach Ainslee Lamb.
"I look forward to leading the BC program in 2012 with both Jacqui and Kara as co-captains," Lamb said. "They exemplify the type of player and student that we want BC field hockey to reflect. They reinforce the team's expectations and institutional goals on a daily basis through their own focus, determination and drive.
"With their leadership, the future goals of the program are feasible," Lamb added. "A championship program needs champions to lead it, and we have that in both of these players."
Moorfield, a back from Christchurch, New Zealand, was also a team captain in 2011. Last season, she started all 19 games for the Eagles and finished the year ranked second on the team in assists (8). Moorfield registered three goals last season, including the game-winning goal against BU on Sept. 9. She also earned her first-career ACC Player of the Week accolades for the week of Sept. 13. Through her first three seasons at The Heights, she has compiled nine goals and 12 assists for 30 points.
Mackintire played in 18 games as a junior, starting 17 of them. The Shrewsbury, Mass., native recorded her first career point last season with an assist at UConn on Sept. 18. The back also tallied her first-ever defensive save against Maryland on Sept. 16. Mackintire has been a solid part of the Eagles' backfield during her time at BC, playing in 46 games through three seasons.
