Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The No. 5/6 women’s hockey team (6-3-2, 5-2-1 WHEA) head south down to Yale University for the ninth annual Nutmeg Classic against Quinnipiac on Friday. The Eagles will face either Connecticut or Yale in the championship or consolation game on Saturday. BC is coming off a solid 2-0-1 week including a weekend sweep over No. 8/9 Northeastern.
BC extended their win streak at Matthews Arena last Friday with a 6-4 victory over the Huskies. Freshman Haley Skarupa recorded four points and Alex Carpenter continued her hot streak as the Eagles extended their unbeaten streak to six games. Skarupa was named Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week for her performances last week, the second time she has received the honors this season.
On Sunday, the Eagles needed two late goals from junior Melissa Bizzari to outlast Northeastern 4-3 at Kelley Rink. Freshman defenseman Kaliya Johnson notched her first career collegiate goal in the win as their unbeaten streak increased to seven games.
The Quinnipiac Bobcats (7-5-2, 4-3-1) enter the game after dropping a 5-2 decision at UNH on Tuesday. Led by junior Kelly Babstock (29 points) and sophomore Nicole Kosta (24 points), the Bobcats look to build off of their 2-1 overtime win against BC last season.
The Eagles will return home next Friday night as they will host the Maine Black Bears on November 30 at 7pm and December 1 at 2pm.
Notes: BC leads the all-time series vs. Quinnipiac 15-3-3 … with a win or tie on Friday, the Eagles will match their longest unbeaten streak in program history (eight games) … Carpenter notched her 30th career goal on Friday night against Northeastern.
