Jillian Mastroianni Drafted By Sky Blue FC

Kansas City, MO - Boston College's Jillian Mastroianni was selected 15th overall in today's 2012 WPS Draft at the NSCAA National Convention in Kansas City, Mo.
Mastroianni was the second player selected in the third round by Sky Blue FC, which is located in New Jersey. Mastroianni is one of five ACC players chosen in today's draft.
The senior from Durham, CT, made the NSCAA Regional third team as a freshman and first team as a sophomore. She was a pre-season Hermann Trophy candidate as a sophomore and junior. Mastroianni will graduate in May from Boston College as the all-time leader in shutouts (44) and minutes played.
Mastroianni was also recently invited to the Under-23 National Team camp which begins on Jan. 15-22 in Sarasota, Florida. Joining Mastroianni in Florida is BC teammate Victoria DiMartino.
The Eagles goalkeeper will be the sixth player to play professional soccer. Currently, Kia McNeill (drafted by St. Louis) and Gina DiMartino (drafted by the Boston Breakers) are members of the Philadelphia team in the WPS. Former BC defender Laura Georges plays in France, while goalkeeper Arianna Criscione is a goalkeeper in Italy. The Eagles first player to play professionally was Sarah Powell, who was drafted by the Boston Breakers from the original women's pro soccer league the WUSA.
