Field Hockey Cracks Top 10 in National Polls

The Boston College field hockey team has jumped from No. 14 to No. 10 in the Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, according to an announcement made Tuesday.
The Eagles were ranked 14th in the preseason poll and have moved up after a strong, 4-1 start that included victories against Vermont, UMass, Quinnipiac and Holy Cross.
All six ACC field hockey programs are nationally ranked, with North Carolina holding onto the No. 1 spot and Maryland at No. 3. Virginia and Duke are currently No. 7 and No. 9, respectively, while Wake Forest sits at No. 20.
Next Up:
Boston College will travel across town to take on rival No. 11 Boston University on Friday, Sept. 9 at Harvard’s Jordan Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. BC is slated to host Maryland in the squad’s first conference matchup of the 2011 season on Friday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m.
