Chestnut Hill, Mass. - In the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, the Boston College men's cross country team was ranked No. 14 in the Northeast Region. This is the first time in two seasons the men have been seeded in the region.
This past weekend, the Eagles took eighth place at the Iona Br. Doyle Meet of Champions. BC tallied 206 team points to finish ahead of 11 universities, including regionally seated Marist (Northeast) and Temple (Mid-Atlantic).
Juniors Jordan Hamm and Louis Serafini led Boston College with top 25 finishes in the field of 222 athletes. Hamm registered his first race as the Eagles No. 1 runner with a 25:51.04 clip in 18th place and Serafini crossed right behind in 22nd at 26:00.35. The duo averaged 5:13 and 5:14 miles over the five mile course (8K) at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
Boston College will not compete again until it challenges for the New England Championship on Oct. 8 at Boston's famed Franklin Park.
