Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Head men's tennis coach Scott Wilkens unveiled the 2011-12 schedule on Friday, which showcases 20 dual matches, including 10 matchups against teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season.
The Eagles open their fall season with the USTA National Invitational in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., on September 23025. They continue with the Brown Invitational September 30-October, before senior Akash Muppidi plays in the D'Novo/ITA Men's All-American Championship (October 7-11) in Tulsa, Okla. BC finishes the fall season with the ITA Individual Regionals (October 13-18), hosted by Cornell and the Crimson Tide Invitational (October 28-30). Last year Muppidi and sophomore Michael McGinnis led the Eagles with 3-1 records in singles play, while the pairing of then-senior Brian Locklear and current senior Jonathan Schroeder posted a team-best 2-1 finish in the doubles draw.
Boston College opens match play with a home match against Bryant on January 20. Last season, the Eagles defeated the Bulldogs, 7-0. After traveling to face Cornell (January 22) and taking on Marquette at home (February 11), the Eagles open ACC play with Virginia Tech on February 12 at Harvard.
Key matchups include ACC-opponents Florida State (February 15), North Carolina (February 29) and Miami (March 30) at home. The Eagles take on six ACC teams on the road, including Maryland (March 16) and Clemson (March 25). BC also squares off with cross-town rival Boston University at home on April 11. The Eagles defeated the Terries, 7-0, last year.
The ACC Tournament begins on April 19 in Cary, N.C.
