No. 12 Women's Soccer Hosts Syracuse on Thursday Night

Chestnut Hill, MA - The No. 6 Boston College women's soccer team will host former Big East foe Syracuse on Thursday, September 1 at 7 p.m. The match will be held at the Newton Soccer Field after the men's match vs. Quinnipiac.
The Eagles are currently 2-0-1 and coming off a 1-0 victory over Rutgers on Friday, August 26. Freshman Stephanie McCaffrey scored her first collegiate goal off a beautiful cross from junior Kristen Mewis. Goalkeeper Jillian Mastroianni had three saves in the win and earned her second shutout of the season.
The latest NSCAA/Continental Tire rankings has Boston College ranked 12th, and features three ACC teams among the top four (North Carolina No. 1, Maryland No. 3 and Virginia No. 4). Boston College is currently ranked sixth by TopDrawerSoccer.com and 11th by Soccer America.
BC's History vs. Syracuse The Eagles lead the head-to-head series, 6-4-1. The last time the two teams played it ended in a 0-0 double-overtime match on Sept. 16, 2007.
Since BC Head Coach Alison Foley took over the program in 1997, the Eagles are 5-3-1 vs. Syracuse. Prior to the tie in the 2007 match, BC had won three straight games vs. the Orange.

• The Eagles have scored three goals in three games. The defense in front of senior goalkeeper Jillian Mastroianni has only surrendered one goal (1-1 2OT tie vs. BU).
• BC Head Coach Alison Foley is just five wins away from 200 career victories. She is nine wins away from 200 victories while at Boston College. Foley has won more games than any other BC women's soccer coach in the history of the program.
• Freshman Stephanie McCaffrey scored her first collegiate goal in the win over Rutgers last week. It was also her first game-winning goal.
• Five players on the roster have played every minute of every game this season - goalkeeper Jillian Mastroianni, freshman defender Casey Morrison, senior defender Alaina Beyar, senior defender Alyssa Pember and sophomore defender Zoe Lombard.
• Junior midfielder Alicia Blose earned her first career start vs. Rutgers last week. Blose scored the game-winning goal in the 1-0 win over Fairfield.
• Jillian Mastroianni has earned two shutouts this season increasing her career total to 35. She needs three shutouts to become the all-time leader in shutouts at Boston College. A native of Durham, CT, Mastroianni already picked up two victories this season to become the all-time leader in goalkeeper wins.
• The Eagles will be honored at halftime of the BC-Northwestern football game on Saturday, Sept. 3.
