The Boston College women's basketball team lost to La Harve of France, 74-67, at the Halle G. Carpentier Sportscentrum on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles finished a four-game European Tour with a 1-3 record.
BC was led by Katie Zenevitch with 16 points and eight rebounds while Shayra Brown and Korina Chapman added eight points apiece.
The French team led throughout the game until the Eagles tied the game on a steal by Alyssa Fressle which led to a lay-up by Chapman with just under four minutes to play. After two foul shots by Le Harve BC tied the game, 61-61, on a jumper in the lane by Kristen Doherty (seven points, three steals).
Le Harve slowly pulled away as BC missed two jumpers and turned the ball over twice. Le Harve hit two foul shots and a running lay-up to seal the win. After the first quarter BC was down, 15-10, behind four points from Brown. The second quarter Le Harve pulled away, 31-23 as they hit a three-pointer before the buzzer.
The third quarter BC started to chip away with pressure defense and converted a number of three-point plays. A three-pointer by Korina Chapman gave the Eagles it's only lead of the game, 36-33 with seven minutes to play in the third quarter. Le Harve hit a jumper and a driving three-point play in the final minute to take a 50-46 lead after three.
Game Notes:
BC started Shayra Brown, Kristen Doherty, Tessah Holt, Katie Zenevitch and Korina Chapman ... The Eagles took a 45 minute walk this morning with Albe. He took the team through the Luxemboug Gardens prior to pregame meal at a local restaurant ... The Eagles plan to visit the Louvre on the final day in Paris ... Freshman Joy Caracciolo had four points off the bench.
