Women's Basketball Suffers 67-65 Loss to The Netherlands

Amsterdam, Netherlands - In the second game of the EuroJam Tournament in Amsterdam, the Netherlands handed Boston College women's basketball team a 67-65 loss at the Topsportcentrum Almere on Saturday.
The Eagles were led by Tessah Holt with 18 points, while sophomore Korina Chapman notched a double-double (13 points and 11 rebounds). Katie Zenevitch finished with 10 points, while Alyssa Fressle added nine points.
The Netherlands was lded by Rachel Roubehie-Fissa with 19 points (4-for-8 from the 3-point line), while Fieke Ligthart added 13. Marious Nieuwveen added 11 points and seven boards.
Boston College led 16-14 after one quarter behind four points from Katie Zenevitch and Korina Chapman. The Eagles shot 42.9 percent from the floor and had seven rebounds to the Netherlands five.
The second quarter BC played its best basketball of the tournament going on a 16-2 run to finish the half and give the Eagles a 31-24 lead. Tessah Holt had eight points while Chapman had nine.
At the half BC shot 34 percent from the floor while the Netherlands shot 38 percent. Both teams had 16 rebounds.
The Eagles lead was cut to just three after the third quarter, 50-47. Holt kept BC ahead with six points in the quarter. The lead slipped away from BC with under four minutes to play in the fourth quarter. The Netherlands hit seven straight free throws to take a 62-60 lead.
BC gained the lead back on a inside move from Alyssa Fressle. The Netherlands went ahead on a long three from Rachel Roubehie-Fissa with 1:38 to play. BC countered with a jumper in the lane from Kristen Doherty. Fieke Ligthart hit the winning jumper with under a minute to play for a Netherlands win.
Game Notes:
The Eagles outrebounded the Netherlands, 34-32 ... BC shot just 50 percent from the free throw line (15-for-30) ... Freshman Victoria Lesko earned the start as did Tessah Holt ... Kristen Doherty had six points, two steals and a block in the game ... The Eagles started the day with an hour walking tour around the city. The team enjoyed a pregame meal of salad, pasta and a hamburger at the Hard Rock Café. BC will be up early on Monday, August 15, and head to Bruges in Belgium.
