Boston College field hockey players Nicole Schuster and Emma Plasteras both represented their respective countries at the national level this summer--Schuster with the US U21 team and Plasteras with Canada's "A" senior team.
Schuster, a rising sophomore, was selected to play with the U21 team after participating in the junior national camp in mid-July. The Doylestown, Pa. native, had previously competed at the national level with the U17 and U19 teams.
"This selection is a huge step in my USA field hockey and Boston College field hockey careers," Schuster said. "I hope to use the knowledge and experience I will receive from the U21 training and bring it back to share with the BC field hockey program."
Plasteras, an incoming freshman, played with the Canadian "A" senior team at the 4 Nations Tournament in Canada July 15-24.
"Being involved in the national program in Canada means a lot to me. It's very exciting being able to play for my country," Plasteras said. "Every game is a challenge, and you're able to learn from your mistakes and also see how other countries play compared to your own."
The North Vancouver, British Columbia resident had previously competed at the national level with the U17, U19, and U21 teams.
Boston College opens the season with an exhibition game against Connecticut on Aug. 21 at 12 p.m. at the Newton Campus.
