Women's Soccer Add Four Players to 2011 Incoming Class

Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College women's soccer head coach Alison Foley announced the addition of four players to the 2011 incoming class. Julie Campbell from Ridgewood, New Jersey, Linzy Rakestraw from Tampa, Florida, Mariah Winters from Burbank, California and Alexander Johnson, Westwood, MA will arrive at the Heights in September. That gives Boston College seven incoming freshmen for the 2011 season. The Eagles have already signed Emily Hoffend from Frisco, Texas; Stephanie McCaffrey from Winchester, MA and Casey Morrison from York, PA.
The new student-athletes ready to join the BC roster are:
Julie Campbell - Ridgewood, NJ - Defender/Midfielder
Campbell played in only nine games as a senior due to an injury and still managed five goals and three assists for Ridgewood. She had nine goals as a junior and was an All-State honoree from the New Jersey Girls Coaches Association. Campbell was listed as a Player to Watch by the Star Ledger in Bergen County prior to the 2010 season. She plays for the Milburn Magic in the summer Women's Premier Soccer League and club soccer for STA Crush.
Alexandra Johnson - Stars of Massachusetts - Westwood, MA - Goalkeeper
Johnson attended Noble & Greenough and was an Independent School League All-Star. A five-year starter, Johnson helped Noble earn the NEPSAC Class A Title twice and ISL Championship four times. In her career, Johnson played in 79 games and went 65-10-4 with 50 shutouts. She was an All-ISL selection four times and a two-time All-State honoree. Johnson plays for the FC Stars of Massachusetts. She has won Mass. State Cup titles in 2007 and 2010.
Linzy Rakestraw - Clearwater SC - Tampa, FL - Defender
Rakestraw was a four-year starter at Plant High School. A team captain, Rakestraw helped lead Plant to two District Finals and three consecutive regional finals. She was recently named to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-State team. Rakestraw is a member of the Clearwater Chargers and helped the team advance to the semifinals at the Disney Showcase in 2009 and 2010. A National Honor Society Student, Rakestraw also runs track at Plant.
Mariah Winters - Crescenta Valley - Burbank, CA - Defender
Winters is ranked 87 on Top Drawer Soccer Top 100 Players to Watch List for 2011. A native of Burbank, CA, Winters plays for Crescenta Valley and attends Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks. She was named an All-Star at the prestigious adidas ESPN camp in February 2009. Winters club team won the California State National Cup Championship in 2008. A four-year starter at Notre Dame, Winters earned Freshman of the Year honors as well as co-Most Valuable Defensive player as a senior. She was also named an All-Academic CIF Team four straight years and was the captain of both her club and high school soccer teams.
