Cary, NC- The No. 4 seed Boston College women's lacrosse team will face No. 1 Maryland, Friday in the semi-finals of the ACC Tournament. Boston College defeated No. 5 Virginia Tech, 17-3 Thursday, giving them their first ever ACC Tournament win.
In their last matchup, Maryland (15-0, 5-0) defeated the Eagles (11-5, 1-4) 20-9, in Newton.
Boston College looks to build off their strong first-round performance in which seven different Eagles scored, with senior Kristin Igoe notching five goals. The 14-point victory set a new ACC Tournament record for margin of victory, previously 13.
The Eagles have four players who have 30 or more goals on the season, with Igoe leading the way with 41, followed by Junior Brittany Wilton (37), freshman Moira Barry (35) and Brooke Blue (30). Boston College continues to get strong performances from defenders Jill Rekart and Jessie Coffield and goaltender Sheila Serafino, who limited Virginia Tech to three goals and had eight saves in the win.
The winner of Friday's game will play for the ACC Championship, Sunday, against the winner of the other semi-final matchup, No. 2 Duke v. No. 3 North Carolina.
