Carolyn Swords Named To Region 2 All-America Team

Chestnut Hill, MA - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), in cooperation with State Farm, announced the All-Region nominees for the 2011 State Farm Coaches' All- America Team for NCAA Division I, and BC's senior center Carolyn Swords was named to the list of 52 candidates.
The State Farm Coaches' All-America Team selection committee will review these 52 candidates and cut the list to 40 finalists. The 40 finalists will all be in the running for selection to the 10- member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.
Swords, who led the nation in field goal percentage during the regular season for the third straight season, was named to the State Farm All-America Region 2 team along with five other ACC players.
The Eagles center was an All-ACC first team selection for the second consecutive season. She is averaging career-highs in points (17.6 ppg.), rebounds (9.0 rpg.) and field goal percentage (72.2 percent). She is third in the ACC in scoring, first in rebounds and field goal percentage.
Swords' is second on BC's all-time leading scorer list with 1,978 points. She is the first BC player to reach the 1,000 rebound plateau and now has 1,117 boards. She also has recorded the most blocks (175) and double-doubles (44). She set a new program record by grabbing 14 double-doubles this season. Swords' is also the first player in program history to start and play in 130 consecutive games.
The State Farm Coaches' All-America Team for NCAA Division I will be announced at 9 a.m. ET Saturday, April 2, in Indianapolis during the WBCA National Convention, which is held in conjunction with the NCAA® Women's Final Four®.
