Greensboro, N.C. -
Boston College senior Caroline King has been selected as the ACC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week for Feb. 15. This is the second such honor for King, who previously received the Eagles’ first-and-only league award on Feb. 6, 2008.
This past weekend, the Scotia, N.Y., native topped a field of 147 professional and amateur athletes in the women’s mile at the Boston University Valentine Invitational. She bested her previous personal record by over four seconds to secure an NCAA provisional time of 4:37.04 and break the BC record set by Angie Graham (4:37.52) back in 1997. King's time brought her a third consecutive meet title and stands as the fifth fastest in the country so far this season.
NC State sophomore Ryan ran was chosen as the league’s Men’s Performer of the Week. Hill bested a 20-year-old school record with a time of 7:50.78 in the 3,000-meters at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., Saturday. His time ranks third in the nation and automatically qualifies him for the 2011 NCAA Championships.
The Eagles return to action Feb. 24-26 at the 2011 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championship in Blacksburg, Va.
