Bascetta, a midfielder from Granby, Conn., was a two-time NFHCA First Team All-American, a four-year varsity starter, and a two-time MVP her junior and senior years. She captained the team her senior year, when the squad went 19-0 and were Class S State Champions. During career, she tallied 89 goals and 25 assists. The two-time Connecticut Player of the Year has also been active with USA programs such as the Olympic Development Select 2009 and 2010, in addition to Futures Elite in 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010. She participated in the Junior National Camp in 2009 and 2010, and played with the New England Junior High Performance Team in 2010. She was a member of the 2010 USA U19 National Team on their tour to Argentina. Abby comes to us from the Cape Ann Coalition Club after winning the gold medal at the 2010 Festival. Bascetta is a Honor Roll student and varsity lacrosse player, earning All-Conference in 2009, and named League Champions in 2010.
"Abby possesses excellent possession skills," Head Coach Ainslee Lamb said. "She has proven her ability to play at the club, high school, and Junior National Development teams. Her elimination skills will immediately transfer to the game at our level."
De Jager, a graduate student from Amsterdam, is a versatile player who can perform at any position. Currently she plays for her local club HIC in the Second Division and has also played for Pinoke's First Division team and Kraaien clubs. De Jager is a four-year North Holland All-Star, and has played for the National Dutch U16, U18, and U21 teams. In 2003, her team was second in the U16 European Championships and first in the 2004 Four Country Tournament.
"Maike will bring a veteran outlook to the BC team," Lamb said. "With both her playing level and approach to the game, we will all learn vicariously through her."
Hospodar, a midfielder/back from Wayne, Pa., was an NFHCA First Team All-American in 2009 and 2010. In addition to being First Team All-State, she was a Second Team All-State in 2008. Hospodar was named the Main Line Player of the Year in 2009. She was First Team All Area/League 2008, 2009, and 2010, as well as First Team All Region in 2009 and 2010 and an AACA All Star in 2008, 2009, and 2010. She was a four-year varsity starter at Merion Mercy Academy. She captained the team in 2010 and was named MVP. In addition to playing at her high school, Hospodar has been involved in USA Field Hockey as a member of the U19 National Team, the USA Olympic Developmental Select squad, Futures Elite, as well as the New Jersey Junior High Performance squad. Hospodar is the second player to come from the Mystx Club as she will join her fellow teammate Nicole Schuster at BC. They were also NIT Gold Medal winners in 2006, 2007, and 2008, and won the gold medal in 2009 at Festival in the U19 A Pool. Hospodar was also a Lacrosse Academic All-American in 2010, a three-year varsity lacrosse starter, an All-Main Line All-Star in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Her team was named the Lacrosse AACA Champs in both 2009 and 2010, and she was chosen as an AACA All Star in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
"Sarah has been a dominating player at the high school level," Lamb said. "Combining this with her exposure with the U.S. Junior National Squad, it is sure to be an excellent fit for her on the playing for BC. She is a powerful player that has proven her ability to consistently perform. Her physical attributes and skill level match well with the future goals of the BC team."
Keith, a Reading, Pa. native, played midfield at Holy Name High School where she was team captain and MVP in her senior year. She was also named MVP as a junior when her team was All Berks County Division II champions. She was named to the All-State Second Team in 2010 and the First Team in 2010. With USA field hockey, Keith has won the NFC in 2007, 2008, and 2009. She also plays lacrosse, soccer, and is a District III Diving rep.
"Maura always has a positive outlook that is simply contagious," Lamb said. "Her fundamental skills are excellent and her knowledge and understanding of the game are strong."
Morris, a Pottstown, Pa. native, captained her high school team and was voted MVP in the 2010 season. Her team won All-League in 2009 and 2010. They were also MAPL Champions. In 2011, she was named to the NFHCA High School National Academic Squad and has been a two-time All-League representative. Morris is also a Honor roll recipient all four years of high school and plays lacrosse.
"Nicole is mentally and physically so strong," Lamb said. "Her will to compete is phenomenal under any conditions. Her preparation with the WC Eagles club team will serve her well to compete in the perennial ACC."
Nedeau, a midfield from Chicago, Ill., played at Lake Forest High School where she was captain of the JV and Varsity squads. In 2009, Nedeau led the team in assists. Lake Forest was the state runner-up in 2009 and 2010, and during those years she was named to the All-Academic team. Nedeau also competed at the NFCs and was a Junior Olympian in 2009. Nedeau is the first Windy City Club player to join the BC program, while she was also a three year varsity soccer player and captained both JV and Varsity teams, earning all academic soccer honors in 2010 and 2011.
"We are so proud of Hannah and her recovery from an ACL injury," Lamb said. "The mental toughness that she demonstrated and focus that she had during this rehab was admirable. We are looking forward to having her perspective and approach to the game as an integral part of the program."
Plasteras comes to the Heights from North Vancouver, B.C. where she played at the Carson Graham Secondary School. The forward was named a First-Team All Star all four years, and led her team to become Provincial Champions in 2010. Plasteras was also a member of the BC Provincial Team for five years, and is a current member of the Canadian Junior National team. This year she was competed with the Canadian Senior National Team. In 2010, Plasteras was the leading goal scorer at the Youth Pan American Games. Plasteras also plays soccer and basketball and was an honor roll student in grades 8-12.
"Emma is a talented player with the ability to score for the Eagles," Lamb said. "Her touch on the ball and shooting skill set is already at a collegiate level. We are excited for her to flourish at BC and continue her progress and opportunities with the Canadian national team."
"I am really excited for this talented group to join the BCFH Family," Lamb said. "They all have had successful careers on and off the field to date. I am confident that they will have an amazing four years at the Heights. BC is a place that will challenge and enable them to further develop into very successful hockey players and young women. They are a great addition to a very strong program that is continuing to reach new levels every year. The future of BC Field Hockey is in great hands with the 2015 class."
