Track & Field Times Rank Among Region's Best

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its national and regional rankings on Tuesday, Feb. 1. The BC women's team remained ranked 49th in nation and improved four places to 16th in the Northeast Region, while the men's team jumped up five spots to No. 20 in the Northeast.
The Distance Medley Relay (DMR) of senior Caroline King, senior Siobhan Breagy, senior Madeline Wallace and junior Jillian King turned in a time of 11:28.27 at the BU Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 28 to rank first in the Northeast Region.
At the Reebok Indoor Games on Friday, Jan. 27, Jillian King recorded a 4:44.60 mile, the second fastest time in the region, while sophomore Taylor Aizenstadt height of 1.70 (5-7.0 ft.) in the high jump ranks seventh. Senior Caroline King time of 2:07.60 in 800m is 34th in the country and second in the region to date.
The King sisters both have mile times from March 5, 2010 that remain nationally ranked, as does the DMR from March 6, 2010. The DMR of 11:05.69 is fifth, Caroline's 4:41.13 is 16th and Jill's 4:42.19 is 26th.
The Eagle men currently hold the fastest Distance Medley Relay time. The contingent of sophomore Louis Serafini, freshman Kellen MacDonald, senior Ian Thomas and sophomore Jordan Hamm ran a 9:57.78 - the only sub-10 minute time in the region - at the BU Terrier Invitational this past weekend.
Senior Matthew Adetula's long jump mark of 7.11 meters (23-4.0 ft.) from the BU Tri-Meet on Jan. 20, still stands as the seventh best mark in the region. Classmate Mathew Kosmas 35-lb. weight throw of 17.70 meters (58-1.0 ft.) ranks a ninth.
The Boston College Track and Field teams will compete in the Battle of Beantown at the Gordon Indoor Track Center in Cambridge, Mass. on Friday, Feb. 4 at 4:30 p.m.
A select group of athletes from the women's side will also be making the trip to New York City where they will run in the New Balance College Invitational at the Armory Track & Field Center Friday and Saturday.
