CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College lacrosse captains Kristin Igoe and Brittany Wiltonhave been named Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans, according to an announcement on Dec. 7. This recognition comes on the heels of the BC earning its highest preseason ranking in the history of the program, tabbed at No. 10 by Inside Lacrosse on Dec. 6.
Igoe, a 2011 IWLCA First-Team All-American, was named to the second team. Wilton, who earned Third-Team All-American accolades at the end of 2011, was named to the third team this preseason.
"Kristin and Brittany are well deserving of these honors, and I am proud of them for all they have done to help guide Boston College into the national spotlight," head coach Bowen Holden said. "I know they, along with their teammates, are looking forward to a very successful 2012 season."
Igoe, who is returning as a graduate student, started all 19 games for the Eagles in 2011. As a senior, the Framingham, Mass., native led the team in goals (44), points (62) and caused turnovers (33). In addition to her All-American distinction, Igoe was named to the 2011 ACC All-Tournament team, as well as the 2011 All-ACC Team and the All-ACC Academic Team. The midfielder, who joined BC's prestigious 100 Point Club with five points against Hofstra in the 2011 season opener, is currently sixth in goals (119) and total points (158) on the school's all-time records list.
Wilton, a senior, started all 19 games last season on her way to finishing second on the team in goals (42) and points (88), and third in assists (16). She also joined the BC 100 Point Club in 2011 and currently sits at 102 for her career total. The Garden City, N.Y., native scored in 16 of the 19 games in 2011, tallying at least two goals in 14 games. Wilton, an attacker last year, was named to the All-ACC Team at the end of the 2011 season.
