Carpenter's Quest: Day 4 - Scrimmage

In our opening scrimmage today, we fell to the Czech boys' team, 4-3, in a shootout. The scoring opened when newcomer Kate Schipper scored her first goal playing for team USA early in the first period to give us the lead. The score stayed close all throughout the game, until the Czech team took the win with a shootout. Defenseman Sam LaShomb and forward Miye D'Oench both scored during the shootout, but it wasn't enough to stop the boys.
Despite the loss, everyone enjoyed the game and it brought back memories to many girls who played on a guys team when they were younger. It was also a learning experience to help get us prepared for the tournament that starts this Saturday.
Besides the game, the most interesting part of the day was how we arrived at the game. We went through our normal pre-game routine of playing soccer, warming up, and getting dressed, except this time we put on all of our equipment except our skates. We were playing at a rink next to ours so we had to walk across the street to another locker room where we put our skates on. When we were walking back to our locker room after the game we got some pretty funny looks from team Russia!
The rest of the day we had no scheduled events so many of us went back to the rink to watch a scrimmage between team Sweden and team Switzerland. For many of us it was fun to watch our friends play and at the same time it was nice to look at our competition (team Sweden) to see what we will be up against once the tournament starts.
Thanks for reading!
