Dec. 27, 2011: Day 2 - First day in the Czech Republic!
Dobrý den from the Czech Republic!
We landed this morning around 9:30 a.m., then boarded our bus for the 3-hour bus ride to Zlín. Most of the ride was filled with movies and people trying to sleep, though for many, myself included, had no success. Most of us are going on our 34th hour without sleep and are forcing ourselves to stay awake until tonight in order to properly adjust to the six-hour time change. Cups and cups of coffee are what is keeping me awake to write this right now, running on only a half hour of sleep it not as easy as it seems!
The bus ride proved to be a little easier to sleep on as many people caught up on sleep while others were trying to connect to the buses WIFI in order to get in contact with people from home. As soon as we got on the bus everyone had a phone or iPod in their hands and was furiously typing away setting Facebook statuses and Tweeting that we landed safely.
Once we arrived in Zlín we had a quick lunch at Hotel Moskva, but then it was off to PSG Arena, the rink that we will be playing all of our games at. There we had a quick team stretch and geared up for the team's first practice together. We had a good 45 minute pre-game skate type practice to loosen our legs up and just to get our bodies moving after sitting on a plane and bus for such a long time. Though many of us were had heavy eyelids and legs, everyone fought through that fatigue and we had a very efficient practice.
It's about 8:30 p.m. here now and I can barely keep my eyes open, so I'm off to bed!
Thanks for reading!
