Chestnut Hill, Mass. –The Boston College women’s ice hockey team retained its No. 4 ranking in the USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls this week. The Eagles (10-4-1, 5-2-1 Hockey East) defeated Brown, 3-1, and Princeton, 6-1, following a 2-1 overtime loss at Quinnipiac last week.
The top four schools in each poll were unchanged. Wisconsin was again a unanimous No. 1 in both polls, holding onto the top spot for the 10th straight week. Minnesota, Cornell and Boston College round out the top four.
Spots five through 10 were jumbled on the USCHO poll. Newly minted No. 7 BU was swept by No. 3 Cornell last weekend. The losses bumped the Terriers down from fifth and made way for North Dakota (5) and Mercyhurst (6) to climb one spot. After a weekend split the Fighting Sioux, Bemidji State makes its first appearance in the top 10 at No. 8, overtaking Minnesota-Duluth who fell to No. 9 following a split with Ohio State. Northeastern held on at No. 10 after a 4-3 overtime loss at Dartmouth.
The USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine standings also saw North Dakota and Mercyhurst move up to five and six, respectively. Boston University fell two places to No. 7, while Bemidji St. went from unranked to No. 9. Northeastern, who was tied with Harvard last week for ninth, holds the No. 10 ranking.
Boston College continues conference action on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. The Eagles wrap up the two-game road series with the Black Bears the following day at 3 p.m. Both skates are available for a live-stream here.
