Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Junior defenseman Dru Burns was named an Athletic Republic Hockey East Co-Player of the Week in a conference announcement on Monday. The Plano, Texas, native receives her first conference accolade following a weekend in which she recorded five points, consisting of her first collegiate goal and two game-winning assists, and the fourth-ranked Boston College women's ice hockey team went 2-1.
Burns led BC with a career-high four points (1g, 3a) in a 6-1 win over Princeton on Friday. The defender picked up two helpers in BC's three-goal first period versus the Tigers, the first time the Eagles had scored three times in the opening period all season. Burns went on to assist BC's fourth goal, before scoring the first of her career as time expired in the second period. The Texan assisted BC's second goal in a 3-1 defeat of Brown on Sunday.
Burns leads all Hockey East defensemen with 11 points, coming off one goal and 10 assists. The four power play points helped improve BC's penalty execution percentage to .234 (15-of-64), best in the Hockey East.
