Muppidi Falls in ITA All-American Championships

Tulsa, Okla. - Senior Akash Muppidi, Boston College’s lone representative at the ITA Men’s All-American Championships, went 0-2 in tournament play, falling in main draw competition and retiring in the third set of his first consolation match.
Mupiddi, who earned an automatic bid into the main draw, was defeated by Illinois’s Roy Kalmanorian, 6-4, 6-3. Kalmanorian registered a spot in the field playing through the qualifying rounds.
The Eagle then faced Tulsa’s Japie De Kierk in the consolation round. In a tight-fought battle, De Kierk won out, 6-4, 5-7, 5-5 ret.
The Eagles will travel next to Ithaca, N.Y., for the ITA Individual Regionals, beginning on October 13.
