The No. 9 Boston College field hockey squad will hit the road for a three-game road swing before returning to the familiar confines of the Newton Sports Complex for Senior Night on Oct. 21. The Eagles are slated to open the road trip against North Carolina, an ACC rival, on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m.

Boston College Team Notes
• BC heads into this weekend’s game with an 8-4 overall record and a 1-2 mark in the ACC.
• The Eagles are 1-0 so far this week. BC defeated Providence, 3-0, on Monday, Oct. 3 in the squad’s annual “Stick It to Cancer” game.
• BC was ranked No. 9 in the nation in this week’s NFHCA poll.
• Boston College is currently nationally ranked in the top 15 for five different team stats categories. The team is ranked 10th in assists per game (3.0), 11th in points per game (10.3), 12th in goals per game (3.6) and 13th in scoring average (3.5).
• As a team, BC has outshot its opponents, 220-110, and forced more corners, 91-56.
• The Eagles have made the most of their penalty corner opportunities, scoring over one-third (34.9%) of their goals this season in that fashion.
• BC has been unstoppable after scoring first, as the squad holds a 6-0 record when it strikes first.
Boston College Individual Notes
• Senior Courtney Tavener leads the Eagles’ offensive effort with 22 total points this season, a career-best mark. She is also tied for first on the team with eight goals. Tavener is nationally ranked in the top 30 for points per game (2.0) and in the top 40 for goals per game (0.73) and assists per game (0.55).
• Sophomore Paige Norris has become an important playmaker for the Eagles, as she leads the team with nine assists. Norris’ mark also leads the ACC and is 12th in the nation.
• Senior Carla Tamer is a threat on both sides of the ball for BC. She is not only a leader on defense as a veteran back, but is tied for first on the team with eight goals and is second with 19 total points.
• Sophomore Chapin Duke also has eight goals this season and leads the team with a .381 shot percentage.
• Freshman Emma Plasteras notched the first game-winning goal of her career in the Eagles’ win against Providence.
• Senior Nicole Barry recorded the shutout in the cage for BC against Providence, marking the second of her career.
Scouting North Carolina
• North Carolina is 11-1 overall and 2-0 in the ACC so far this season. UNC is currently ranked first in the ACC and No. 3 in country.
• In their last outing, on Oct. 2, the Tar Heels earned a decisive, 7-0 victory against Radford.
• Kelsey Kolojejchick leads the Tar Heels and the entire ACC with 28 points (12 goals, 4 assists).
• Samantha Travers has added to the offensive threat this season with 17 points (8 goals, 1 assist) of her own.
Series History
• North Carolina holds an 8-1 lead in the all-time series against Boston College. BC’s lone win of the series came at home in 2008, when the Eagles shutout the Tar Heels, 2-0.
• In the squads’ last meeting on Oct. 8, 2010, North Carolina defeated Boston College, 3-0.
