Women's Basketball Picked Ninth in ACC Media Preseason Poll

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Boston College women's basketball team was picked to finish ninth among the league's 12 schools in the 2011-12 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Media Poll, which was announced at the 2011-12 media day at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The Blue Ribbon Panel that conducted the poll was made up of a contingent of national and local media, as well as numerous school representatives.
Miami was selected to finish first with 30 of the possible 40 first-place votes. Following Miami was Duke with 10 first-place votes. Maryland was predicted to finish third while Florida State and Georgia Tech round out the top five in the poll.
Boston College was selected to finish ninth behind seventh place NC State and eight place Virginia. The final three spots are taken by Wake Forest, Clemson and Virginia Tech.
Boston College was represented at the media day by head coach Sylvia Crawley and junior guard Kerri Shields. Shields averaged 11.0 points per game average and led the ACC and team in three-pointers made with 85 last season.
The Eagles will start their 2010-11 season at Conte Forum on Friday, November 11 against Fairleigh Dickinson in a rare 11 a.m. start.
