KRISTEN MEWIS EARNS NEW ENGLAND SOCCER PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Chestnut Hill, MA - Sophomore Kristen Mewis was named the New England Soccer News Women's Soccer Player of the Year as announced by New England Soccer News on Tuesday, Jan. 4. She is also a finalist for the Soccer News Network National Player of the Year, which will be announced on Jan. 6.
Mewis, a native of Hanson, MA, was recently named Soccer America MVP first team. She was Eagles second leading scorer with 10 goals and 14 assists for a career-high 34 points. Mewis set a new program record by notching a goal or an assist in 11 consecutive games this past season. Her 14 assists is a new single season program record. Mewis, an All-ACC first team selection, was also a Top 15 finalist for the 2010 Hermann Trophy.
Mewis is the third Boston College player to receive this honor. In 2008, goalkeeper Jillian Mastrioanni earned the award followed by Victoria DiMartino in the 2009 season.
Mewis is set to join the US National Women's Team for training camp on January 8 through January 13 in California. This is the first time Mewis has been called in to train with the Women's National Team. She will be the youngest player at training camp.
