GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior captain Emily Kozniuk was selected for the preseason All-ACC Team by the league's coaches, as was announced yesterday by Commissioner John Swofford.
A versatile player at midfield, Kozniuk was a valuable asset to both the Eagles' offensive and defensive efforts during the 2009 season. She started in all 20 games and registered 27 points, which placed her third on the team. Her 15 assists, the most of any 2009 BC player, were the 12th most in the nation. Kozniuk was also co-captain during her junior year.
All six teams were represented on the preseason All-ACC squad, with North Carolina leading the way with three. Duke, Maryland, and Virginia each had two players selected. Boston College and Wake Forest will be represented by one apiece.
The ACC also announced the preseason predicted order of finish, which saw Boston College at number five. Last season's ACC runner-up and NCAA champ North Carolina is predicted to place first, while last year's ACC winner Maryland took second. Virginia followed at third, then Wake Forest in fourth. Duke rounded out the league at sixth.
Boston College will kick off the 2010 season at UMass on Friday, August 27. The first home game will be Friday, September 10 against cross-town rivals Boston University.
