Lacrosse Set For 2010 ACC Tournament

The Boston College lacrosse team will meet No. 4 Duke this week, as it will take part in the 2010 ACC Championship tournament.
BC will match-up against the fourth seeded Blue Devils at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 22. The two teams previously met on Saturday, April 10 in Durham, N.C. with Duke coming out on top, 12-11.
The Eagles are ranked as the fifth seed in the field of six. Third seeded Virginia will meet sixth seeded Virginia Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 22. The winner of the Boston College and Duke contest will face the top seeded, and No. 1 nationally ranked, North Carolina while Maryland will wait for the winner of the Virginia-Virginia Tech matchup.
Four of the six schools participating in this year's tournament have earned national rankings from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association as of Monday, April 19, and all of them are ranked among the top five in the country.
North Carolina became the first team to knock Northwestern out of the top spot this year, as the Tar Heels' 19 first place votes helped them takeover the new No. 1 ranking.
Maryland stands as the No. 3 team nationally with Duke sitting at No. 4 and Virginia rounding out the list of ACC schools as the No. 5 team. Boston College is the first team after the top-20 ranking to be noted as receiving votes in the Division I poll.
The Eagles are also ranked 16th in this week's Inside Lacrosse Women's Media Poll.
This season has been an extremely productive one for BC, as it has currently tied the school's all-time record for wins in a season with 10. The last time the Eagles finished with double-digit wins was in 2005, when the team earned a 10-7 overall record and finished 1-4 in the Big East.
Senior Lauren Costello enters this year's tournament after setting numerous career marks for BC this season, including becoming the all-time leader in goals. In the team's 18-11 victory over No. 17 Boston University, Costello tallied five goals and officially surpassed Susie Breaznell '05 for to become the new career leader. Costello currently has 152 tallies while at BC entering the 2010 ACC tournament.
