Field Hockey Announces Incoming Class Of 2014

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College Field Hockey program, and head coach Ainslee Lamb, is pleased to announce that eight new players will be joining next year's 2010 team. There are six incoming freshman, and two graduate students, in this year's class who are coming to the Eagles from all parts of the globe.
This class is very diverse in that it features girls from three different states (Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania), and four different countries (United States, Germany, England and Canada).
"The Boston College field hockey program is thrilled to welcome in these eight new players, and we are looking forward to them having an immediate impact on the team," coach Lamb said. "This group of incoming freshmen is the most experienced class that we have ever welcomed in to BC, and we are extremely excited for their arrival to campus."
"The freshman group has already established itself as a group of young women with a tremendous desire to be successful, and they are all determined to be a part of a winning program that is pursuing a national championship." "Tilly and Friderike will certainly compliment that desire with their own experienced energy as we compete in the perennial Atlantic Coast Conference."
Hannah Mulvey, a defender from Milton, Mass., was a two-year captain, and won the coaches award playing at Thayer Academy in high school. Mulvey was honored as ALL-ISL in 2009 and 2010. She was named to the All-New England 2009 and 2010 Field Hockey teams, and was a Boston Globe Scholastic All Star in 2009 and 2010 as well. Hannah was also a key member of the Lead the Way club team. She will wear the No. 23 next season.
Virgynia Muma, a forward from North Falmouth, Mass., won the Offensive Player of the Year award as a freshman and junior. She was also named the Best All-Around Field Hockey Player in her senior year at Falmouth High School. Muma was selected as an Atlantic Coast All-Star in all four years of varsity play. She participated in the Junior Olympics in 2008, and won the National Futures Championships in 2008 and 2009. Virgynia was a member of the Worcester County United club team. She will wear the No. 5 next season.
The last local product is Chapin Duke, a forward from Dedham, Mass. She was named as an ISL All-League member in 2008 and 2009. She was invited to the Junior National Camp in 2008 and 2009, and is on the Olympic development team. Duke was a member of the New England High Performance Squad in 2009. She was also honored as an NFHCA second team All American in 2008, and a NFHCA first team All American in 2009. Chapin has been a member of the local Cape Ann Coalition club team, and she will wear the No. 18 next season.
Eleni Andromidas, a midfielder from Garden City, N.Y., scored the winning goal in the 2008 New York State Championship game, and also broke school records in career goals and points while playing at Garden City High School. Andromidas was named the Newsday Long Island Field Hockey Player of the Year in 2008 and 2009, and she was the 2009 Nassau County Player of the Year. She was also honored as two-time NFHCA Second-Team All American, and a three-time All-State team member. Eleni was a key member of the CNY club program, and competed in the Junior Olympics in 2008 and 2009. She will wear the No. 17 next season.
Nicole Schuster, a midfielder from Doylestown, Pa., was a four-time Pennsylvania All-State Team member in her high school career at Mount Saint Joseph Academy. Nicole was an All-American, and an All-Region selection in 2009. Schuster has attended the Junior National Camp in 2008 and 2009, and she was identified as an Olympic Development Select in 2009-2010. She was a member of the National Women's Indoor Team, and the New Jersey High Performance senior squad in 2009 as well. Nicole is a key player on the Mystx Club team, and she will play for the USA U-19 National Team in Argentina in April. She will wear the No. 1 next season.
Paige Norris, a midfielder from Victoria, British Columbia, was named the Mount Douglas Female Athlete of the Year in 2007, 2008 and 2009. She was also carded with the Canadian Senior National Field Hockey Team. Norris was an honor roll student for all four years in high school, and represented the Canadian team for a Four Nations in Russia in 2009. Paige was a member of the Skillsets club team, and she will wear the No. 20 next season.
The last two players in this year's class will be coming to BC from overseas, and they will both be pursuing graduate degrees.
Friderike Hauschildt, a defender from Kiel, Germany, won the European U-21 Championship in 2008. In 2007 her club team won the German National Women's Indoor Championship, and in 2008 won the European Club Indoor Championships. Hauschildt also has represented Germany in the U-16, U-18 and U-21 age groups, and most recently was a member of the German National Squad. Friderike will graduate from the University of Hamburg with a bachelor in Molecular Life Sciences. She will wear the No. 3 next season.
Lastly, Tilly Brampton, a forward from Sussex, England, played for the U-16, U-18 and U-21 South of England teams. Currently Brampton plays for Staines Field Hockey Club in the England Womens National League. She is a prolific goal scorer who led Staines in goals scored in her 2007-08 and her 2008-09 seasons. Tilly will graduate from St. Mary's University College with a teaching degree in Secondary Physical Education. She will wear the No. 15 next season.
Boston College's 2010 season opener will be on Friday, August 27 against Massachusetts.
