Carolyn Swords Named to First All-Jesuit Team

Chestnut Hill, MA - Carolyn Swords was named to the first annual National All-Jesuit Women's Basketball Team, as announced by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities today. Swords is one of 10 players chosen and the only BC player to make the squad.
The All-Jesuit Team represents student-athletes from the 28 Jesuit colleges spread acrosse the United States that play basketball on all three levels of the NCAA and the NAIA. They share the mission of Jesuit Education, founded nearly 500 years ago under the principles of St. Ignatius Loyola to educate young people to become men and women dedicated to service and compassionate leadership. Students at Jesuit colleges have long excelled in the classroom and in the community, but they also have played a major role in collegiate basketball in the last 100 years.
Swords, a junior, led the nation in field goal percentage during the regular season. She was recently named to the State Farm All-America Region 2 team along with fellow ACC players Monica Wright of Virginia, Jasmine Thomas of Duke, Jacinta Monroe of Florida State and Shenise Johnson of Miami.
The Eagles center was an All-ACC first team selection and earned a spot on the All-ACC Tournament second team. Swords led the ACC in double-doubles (12), field goal percentage (66.4%), and rebounding (9.1 rpg.), fourth in free throw percentage (79.4%) and was ninth in scoring (14.4 ppg.).
Swords' is eighth on BC's all-time leading scorer list with 1,450 points. This season she moved into third on BC's all-time leading rebound list with 847 and owns the top three single season field goal percentages in the program's history. She also owns the top two single season records in rebounding as she grabbed 290 boards this season and last season she set the program record with 316 boards.
