Women's Basketball Celebrate 2009-10 Season

Chestnut Hill, MA - The Boston College women's basketball team held the end of the season banquet this past weekend. The Eagles honored numerous players for their commitment to the team. The President of the Fast Break Club, Warren Zola, spoke to open the night. Following his presentation, Head Coach Sylvia Crawley handed out a number of awards.
Senior Mickel Picco and juniors Carolyn Swords and Stefanie Murphy were all presented with 1,000 Point Club honorary balls. Senior Brittanny Johnson earned the team's Defensive Player of the Year, while junior Stefanie Murphy was chosen as Most Improved.
Freshman Kerri Shields, who finished the season fifth on the all-time freshman three-pointers made list (35 FGM), was given the Practice MVP award, while junior John Cahill earned the Male Practice Player of the Year honor.
The Boston College strength and conditioning Coach Thoman Shruhan gave out the Weight Room Competition Award and he presented it to junior guard Jaclyn Thoman, for her commitment throughout the year.
The team MVP was given to junior center Carolyn Swords. The Sudbury, Ma native led the team in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage. She also led the ACC and country in FG percentage for the second straight season.
BC assistant coach Geoff Lanier also presented a number of fun awards to the players. Murphy earned the Energizer Bunny Award, while Carolyn Swords picked up the Queen of the Boards and Screener of the Year awards.
