Two Boston College fencers, Jennifer Colacino and Peter Souders were selected to participate at the 2010 Men's and Women's National Collegiate Championships. Only 144 fencers are selected to compete in this national championship.
Colacino, a junior, has had a breakout season this year. She won individual gold in foil at the New England Intercollegiate Fencing Championships and helped the foil squad take home the Vitale Cup. For her dominant performance, she was named College360.com's National Fencer of the Week. Throughout the season, she consistently led the women's team in individual wins.
Souders, a sophomore, has followed up an excellent freshman year without another accomplished season. He started and finished the season strong, winning the men's sabre event at the NEIFC/NEWIFA Fall Invitational in November and taking home the individual bronze in sabre at the New England Intercollegiate Fencing Championships in February. He also consistently led the men's team in individual wins.
Colacino and Souders will compete on March 25-28 at Harvard University for the championship.
