Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College Athletics took the first day of winter break to spread some Christmas cheer in the community.
The men's basketball team visited the Campus School for the annual Christmas Party Tuesday morning to deliver gifts to the students. The players as well as head coach Steve Donahue and staff members Woody Kampmann and Dan McDermott, spend some quality time with the students at the Campus School. The Campus School is a specialized school for students age 3-21 with multiple disabilities in the Lynch School of Education at BC.
Three hours later, Boston College coaches and staff members traveled down the road to package and deliver food to 250 hungry families at the Commonwealth Tenant's Association (CTA) through the Food for Families Program.
Once a month, Boston College teams visit CTA to package and deliver the food. Since the students are at the start of a winter break, Boston College coaches and staff, led by athletic director Gene DeFilippo took over for the afternoon. Coaches from field hockey, men's soccer, women's ice hockey, softball, and lacrosse along with the compliance staff lent a hand in helping local families.
