Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College sophomore Kristen Mewis was one of 26 players named to the U.S. Women's National Team training camp by head coach Pia Sundhage at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. from Jan. 8-13 2011.
This is the first time the Eagles midfielder has been called into training with the full women's national team. Mewis, a native of Hanson, MA, will be the youngest player in camp at age 20.
Mewis helped lead Boston College to the College Cup Final Four this past season. She was the Eagles second leading scorer with 10 goals and 14 assists for a career-high 34 points. Mewis was a Hermann Trophy Top 15 semifinalist, an All-ACC first team and NSCAA All-American first team honoree.
The camp is preparation for the 2011 Four Nations Tournament, a competition that will also feature Sweden, Canada and the host team China.
