Field Hockey Prepares for ACC Championships

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College field hockey team will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to compete in the ACC Championships at Wake Forest's Kentner Stadium this week, November 4-7. The No. 4 seed Eagles (12-6, 2-3 ACC) will face off against the No. 5 Wake Forest Demon Deacons (9-8, 1-4 ACC) at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 4. The game will be broadcast via a live webcast on theACC.com.
No. 13 Boston College finished its regular season with a 3-2 win at home against Wake Forest after Janna Anctil scored the game winning goal with a minute remaining. It was the first time BC had beaten its ACC opponent since the teams' first meeting in 1997.
Also on Thursday is a matchup between No. 3 Virginia and No. 6 Duke at 3:30 p.m. No. 1 Maryland and No. 2 North Carolina earned byes.
If Boston College wins, it will advance to the semifinals on Friday, November 5 at 4:00 p.m. against Maryland. The winner of the Virginia/Duke game will meet North Carolina at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The championship game will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 7 and will be broadcast by the ACC's regional sports network.
The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, where ACC teams have captured 15 of the 27 NCAA titles since 1983, including the last eight in a row.
Boston College is hoping for a return to the NCAA tournament after last season's appearance.
