No. 13 Field Hockey Blanks Harvard 5-0

BOSTON, Mass. -

The Boston College field hockey team topped Harvard with a hat trick from Janna Anctil and one goal a piece from Courtney Tavener and Nicole Schuster to notch a 5-0 win.

The Eagles move to 11-6 while Harvard falls to 3-12.

Anctil took no time making her way to the goal, scoring her first goal of the game at the 46 second mark off a pass from Tavener, who dribbled down field and along the endline before passing it over to Anctil waiting in front of the net.

She scored again five minutes later on the same move by Tavener.

There would be no more scores in the first half but Anctil started up the second with an unassisted goal at 43:27 off a hard shot from the middle of the circle.

After two assists Tavener netted a goal of her own off a pass from Schuster, who scored a goal of her own four minutes later after collecting a rebound only to push it past the goalie.

Eagles' goalie Kristine Stigas picked up her sixth shutout of the season with two saves. Nicole Barry also saw time in the goal, stopping a single shot to preserve the scoreless win.

BC outshot Harvard 22-4 and forced five corners and prevented the Crimson from managing even one.

On Friday, October 29 the Eagles will host ACC foe Wake Forest at 3:00 p.m. in their final regular season contest. BC will celebrate its eight graduating seniors before the start of the game.

Game Notes: Janna Anctil's hat trick was her second this season and puts her in the lead for offense with 11 goals... Courtney Tavener extended her scoring streak to four games... Kristine Stigas made her sixth shutout of the season.
