The Boston College women's soccer team is currently 9-3-1 and 2-3-0 in the ACC. The Eagles are ranked No. 6 in the Soccer America poll, No. 8 by Top Drawer Soccer and stand at No. 11 in the NSCAA ranking.
Boston College is coming off a three game skid with losses at Virginia, vs. Maryland Virginia Tech. The Eagles are looking to get back on the winning path. BC did not play during the week and after Sunday's match against Clemson, the Eagles will head on the road to play at Duke on Thursday, October 21 and at Wake Forest on Sunday, October 24.
STREAKS:
Sophomore Kristen Mewis is on an 11 game scoring streak, which is a new program record. The midfielder has notched a goal or assists in the last 11 games, and has show up in the stat sheet in 12 of 13 games this season. Mewis has set career-highs in goals (8), assists (9) and points (25). The second longest scoring streak on the team is seven games, set by Victoria DiMartino. DiMartino is the Eagles leading scorer with 11 goals, six assists for 28 points.
EAGLES vs. TIGERS: T
he Eagles have the edge in the head-to-head series against Clemson, 4-1-1. In 2009, Boston College defeated Clemson, 5-0, two goals and an assist from Victoria DiMartino. Clemson is coming off a 4-0 loss at Maryland on Thursday, October 14. The Tigers are led offensively by Maddy Elder with five goals, three assists for 13 points.
GAMES PLAYED:
Senior Hannah Cerrone leads the 2010 senior class in games started and played. The Eagles defender has started in every game since arriving at the Heights. After Sunday's match against Clemson, Cerrone will have played 81 consecutive games. The program leader is Kelly Henderson '10 with 89 games played.
SCORING TOUCH:
Sophomore Victoria DiMartino has moved into the eight spot on the all-time scoring list with 62 points. The Eagles forward is also tied with her sister Gina DiMartino '10 in seventh on the all-time goal scoring list with 25 career goals.
CORNER KICKS:
In The last time BC lost more than two consecutive games was in 2007 when the Eagles lost three straight 1-0 games vs. Miami, FSU and UNC ... Last season at this time Boston College was 11-2 and 3-2 in the ACC. BC also had outscored its opponents, 40-7 ... The Eagles are currently 9-3-1, 2-3-0 in the conference and have outscored opponents, 34-12 ... Fourteen players have notched a goal or assists this season. Only four players have two or more goals, while six players have at least one goal and one assist.
