
No. 8 Women's Hockey Defeats Vermont 3-0

BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Boston College women's ice hockey team skated to a 3-0 victory over Hockey East foe Vermont on Friday, October 15 at Gutterson Fieldhouse. Kelli Stack scored two goals and Taylor Wasylk notched a third to secure a win for BC.
BC's offense began on an early power play in the first period. Wasylk shot from between the circles but was stopped by Vermont goalie Kelci Lanthier. Mary Restuccia collected the puck and fired it off but Lanthier made another save. Finally Stack extended her scoring streak to three games at 7:18. Restuccia and Wasylk were credited with assists.
Stack capitalized on another power play opportunity in the second period as she collected a pass from Restuccia behind the net to score her fifth goal of the season at 19:21 with a backhand over Lanthier's blocker.
Wasylk's even strength goal came late in the third period off a turnover behind the net, caused by Stack. She sailed a wrist shot into the back of the net at 18:01.
The Eagles outshot the Catamounts 32-22. Goalie Molly Schaus had another outstanding game, stopping all 22 shots to cruise to her 19th career shutout, her second this season.
BC will face Vermont again tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.
Game Notes: Kelli Stack and Molly Schaus were named first and second game stars, respectively... Molly Schaus recorded her 59th career win and 19th shutout in tonight' contest... Kelli Stack now leads the offense with eight points (5 goals, 3 assists) and Taylor Wasylk remains a close second with seven points (3 goals, 4 assists)...BC now leads all-time series 17-3-1.
