
Tennis Completes Brown Invitational

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College women's tennis team opened their season at the Brown Invitational this past weekend. The team finished with an overall record of 18-14.
Senior captain Katharine Attwell and freshman Haley Dixon won the B flight doubles draw, while sophomore Alex Kelleher and freshman Veronica Corning reached the finals of the A flight doubles.
"It is exciting to get the season started," head coach Nigel Bentley stated. "We feel this year's team has a really good mix of talent, veteran leadership and youth. It was nice for our new players Erina [Kikuchi], Veronica [Corning] and Haley [Dixon] to get off to a good start. Everybody played well and we are looking forward to a great year."
The three day individual tournament also included Boston University, Brown, Rutgers and Auburn.
Junior transfer Erina Kikuchi and freshmen Haley Dixon and Veronica Corning made their BC debuts. All displayed talent and skills that will be a significant addition for this year's squad.
BC players with winning record for the weekend in singles included sophomore Alex Kelleher, junior Katarina Gajic, freshman Veronica Corning and sophomore Olga Khmylev.
The team next travels to New York over Columbus Day weekend in October and plays at the USTA National Tennis Center.
