No. 14 Field Hockey Soars Past Quinnipiac 5-0

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College field hockey team used a strong first half to help earn its third straight victory to start the 2009 season with a 5-0 win over Quinnipiac University on a beautiful afternoon at Newton Campus Field.
The win propels the Eagles to 3-0 for the season, while the loss drops Quinnipiac to 0-1.
Boston College wasted very little time as Janna Anctil scored the Eagles' first goal just 21 seconds into the game.
BC struck again in the fourth minute as Feole scored the first of her two consecutive goals on a beautiful shot that beat the Bobcats' goalie and gave the Eagles a two-goal advantage.
Feole scored her second goal in the 17th minute on a feed from Anctil to make the score 3-0.
The Eagles extended their margin to 4-0 in the 24th minute of the first half on a well-executed corner that ended up with Jessica Roberts scoring her second goal of the season.
The first-half scoring was capped off by junior captain Emily Kozniuk in the 32nd minute.
Boston College controlled the momentum for most of the first half as it outshot the Bobcats 13-3, and had a 4-1 edge in corners.
Both teams played superb defense in the second half, and the game ended without another goal being scored.
The Eagles return to action on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 3 p.m. when they host Holy Cross in another non-conference contest.
Games Notes: With her two goals in today's game, senior Chelsey Feole moved into a tie for seventh place on Boston College's career goals list. Feole now has 34 career goals ... The Eagles improve their record to 3-0 for the second straight year.
