Coach Lamb Welcomes 2013 Class To Campus

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College Field Hockey program, and head coach Ainslee Lamb, is pleased to welcome three new players to this year's 2009 team. The three players in this year's class are coming to the Eagles from all parts of the globe.
Kara Mackintire is a local product from Shrewsbury, Mass. Mackintire will be joined by Taylor Turchi who comes to the Eagles from Alburtis, Pa. Jacqui Moorfield, the last of the incoming freshman, will be coming to Boston College from overseas as she hails from Christchurch, New Zealand.
"It will prove to be an exciting fall for the Eagles with the addition of our three freshmen," coach Lamb said. "They are a small, but talented, class that will contribute immediately to the success of the program. All three come to BC with great playing experience through their high school, club and national playing opportunities. We are thrilled to have them join the program, and look forward to watching each of them excel as student-athletes at BC."
Mackintire, a back from Shrewsbury, Mass, was a two year captain, and a three time MVP for the Shrewsbury High School Field Hockey Program. Mackintire helped lead Shrewsbury to a Division One State Championship in 2007. She was named a three-time Telegram and Gazette Super Team award winner, and a three-time top field hockey player in central Massachusetts. Mackintire was a four-year letter winner at Shrewsbury, and was named the central Massachusetts Field Hockey player of the year her senior season.
Turchi was a midfielder for the Springfield Varsity Field Hockey team for four years. She was a team captain, and an outstanding leader, in her four years at Springfield High School. Turchi was honored as a First-Team All League member in her time at Springfield. Turchi also played soccer for Springfield for four years, and was named honorable mention.
Moorfield, a midfielder from Christchurch, New Zealand, has had much success playing on a high international level for the New Zealand National Field Hockey Team. Moorfield played on the under 16 New Zealand National Field Hockey Team. She also played on the Canterbury Cats u16, u18 and u21 teams. In 2008, Moorfield was the Canterbury Cats under 18 field hockey player of the year.
The Eagles will kick off their 2009 season on August 28th with a brief road trip as they will travel up to Vermont to take on the University of Vermont Catamounts. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
