SAAC Collects Food for Hungry Families

Chestnut Hill, MA - The Boston College Student Athlete Advisory Committee collected 3,162 pounds of food in a competition among 31 varsity teams on Monday to collect food for the Greater Boston Food Bank.
The teams collected dry goods and non-perishable food items to be donated to the Greater Boston Food Bank. The GBFB is a service center that collects donated items and delivers the items to regional food banks in eastern Massachusetts. Throughout the year they collect and distribute over 30 million pounds of food and grocery related products that are distributed to over 600 hunger-relief agencies in Massachsetts.
Women's rowing collected the most food, winning the competition with 790 pounds of food collected. Donations were collected from all varsity teams including from Men's and Women's Sailing, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Football and Women's Soccer.
