Women's Soccer Selected Third In ACC Preseason Coaches' Poll

Chestnut Hill, MA - The 2009 Boston College Women's Soccer team was selected to finish third by the league's 11 coaches in the ACC preseason soccer poll, according to an announcement by the league office today.
The Eagles, 15-6-2 overall and 6-3-1 in the conference last season, return eight starters and will add six incoming freshmen to the 2009 roster.
In the final NSCAA Poll in 2008, Boston College was at 11. This season the Eagles open the season at 23 in the NSCAA Poll, which was released on August 11. The Eagles were one of four teams - UNC, Florida State and Virginia - earning a spot in the NSCAA Top 25. The Eagles are ninth in the 2009 Preseason TopDrawerSoccer.com Poll, which was released on August 10.
In other women's soccer news, the 2009 Boston College team will arrive on campus today for a number of team meetings and a BBQ. The players will begin training on Thursday morning at 7 a.m.
The Eagles will scrimmage Connecticut on Saturday, August 22 at the Newton Soccer Complex (2 p.m.). BC will open the 2009 season on Friday, August 28 when the Eagles host Fairfield at 7 p.m. Boston College will have 12 home games this season, including matches against cross-town rivals Boston University and Harvard. The Eagles will also host reigning National Champion, North Carolina on Thursday, October 1 at 7 p.m.
